Package 1: Basic Hands-On Training in the Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)

Prerequisites: This training assumes a basic understanding of FEES. The participant may have attended a CEU course or Online course on FEES and understands the practical application of this technique for diagnostic swallowing instrumentation.
What Makes This Course Different?: DMS utilizes training tools not seen in the other training opportunities. Developed for our in-house staff training, this endoscopy training tool teaches the SLP the proper hand positioning for their body type, enhances eye-hand coordination, and helps to develop muscle memory. During this weekend the participant can scope this training tool hundreds of times. We always tell our SLPs, if you can successfully manipulate the endoscope with this tool, you can scope any patient with any nasal/pharynx structure.
Course Includes:
• Normal VS Abnormal Anatomy From the Endoscopic Perspective: 2 Hours
• How to Perform a FEES – An Introduction to the Equipment: 2 Hours
• Scoping for FEES Part 1: Scoping Training Tools and 5 Live Scopings: 6 Hours
• Scoping for FEES Part 2: Positioning, High Level Disinfections and 15 Live Scopings: 6 Hours
